Weapon upgrade plan

Different weapons use different upgrade tracks. Choose the one shown in your inventory or smithing menu. This calculator does not determine a weapon's track automatically.

Optional: subtract stones you already have

Enter how many of each material you currently own. Values stay in this page while you use it, and are not sent to a server.

The final Ancient Dragon stones are tracked separately from regular numbered stones.

Which Smithing Stones are you still missing?

The material table above includes everything required. The checklist below removes stones already covered by your entered inventory, so you can keep a short shopping/farming note instead of exporting a full CSV.

Choose a valid weapon upgrade range to generate the copy-ready list.

Preview / manually select your missing-stone checklist

Example: a Regular weapon from +0 to +6 requires 12 Smithing Stone [1] and 12 Smithing Stone [2]. If you own 5 of [1] and all 12 of [2], the missing-only list says 7 × Smithing Stone [1]. Quantities are local and do not estimate smithing rune fees or item locations.

Multiple weapons · Shared stone inventory · Manual tracks

    Plan several weapon upgrades together

Plan up to 8 weapons, including multiple copies of the same weapon. Choose the real smithing track and your actual current/target level for each. The total material requirements are added together first; stones you own are deducted once from the shared inventory, not separately for every weapon.

Saving is optional. Only manually entered weapon labels, confirmed tracks, selected reinforcement levels and shared stone counts are saved in this browser. Restore replaces the current multi-weapon list after validating the saved data. Clear list does not delete a previous save. Browser storage may be unavailable in private browsing.

Start by adding your current single-weapon settings or another manual weapon. No data is saved or uploaded unless you choose Save.

    No saved checklist loaded.

Shared inventory for all weapons (optional)

Enter actual quantities of both regular and Somber stones once. This is independent of the single-weapon inventory above; it stays in this page only and is never uploaded.

Manual-only weapon data. Weapon names are editable labels, not verified identities. No assumed upgrade track or level is treated as a game observation. These quantities do not include smithing rune costs, real attack ratings, weapon eligibility, acquisition locations or special effects.
    Regular weapon upgrades

    +0 to +25

For each grade from Smithing Stone [1] to [8], the three upgrade steps use 2, 4 and 6 stones. For +0 to +24 that's 12 stones per grade (96 total). The final +24 to +25 step uses one Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

    Special weapon upgrades

    +0 to +10

Somber weapons use one Somber Smithing Stone per level from [1] through [9], followed by one Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for +10. Regular and somber upgrade tracks are not interchangeable.

Smithing Stone requirements: four practical examples

The quantities here are produced by the same local formulas as the interactive calculator, not manually copied results. They show stone requirements, not a weapon’s attack rating, real smithing rune costs, farming routes or whether a particular weapon can use a track. Choose your weapon’s actual regular or somber track in its in-game smithing menu.

Regular +0 → +6, with stones already owned

Six reinforcement steps need 24 stones: Smithing Stone [1] ×12 and [2] ×12. If you already own four [1] and ten [2], you still need 10 stones. Owned stones are subtracted grade by grade, not from an unrelated grade.

    Regular +24 → +25, the final upgrade

This final step requires 1 Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. It does not consume another [8] stone, and the final material is separate from the eight numbered stone grades.

    Somber +8 → +10

The last two somber steps need exactly 2 stones: one Somber Smithing Stone [9] for +9 and one Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for +10. Regular Smithing Stones cannot be substituted.

    Two weapons, one shared inventory

Suppose regular weapon A goes +0 → +3 while somber weapon B goes +8 → +10. Together, the schedule requires 14 materials. If your common inventory has four Smithing Stone [1] and one Somber [9], the combined missing amount is 9 stones. The owned stock is deducted only once, after all weapon requirements are combined.

    Smithing Stone calculator: common questions

How many Smithing Stones do you need from +0 to +25?

A regular track uses 12 of each grade [1] through [8] (96 numbered stones) and one Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for +25: 97 total materials. Each grade covers three upgrades costing 2, then 4, then 6 stones.

How many Somber Smithing Stones do you need for +10?

One Somber Smithing Stone for each upgrade level [1] through [9], then one Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for +10: 10 materials total. This applies to the somber track only.

Can every weapon be upgraded to +25?

No. Regular weapons can use the +25 schedule; certain special weapons use the separate somber +10 schedule. The selected upgrade track must be confirmed in your own game because weapon identity, source weapon data and current enhancement level are not certified by this material-only calculator.

Does this include rune costs or stone farming locations?

No. The result is a material checklist, including the quantities you still need after your entered inventory. Smithing rune costs vary by weapon and other game conditions and are deliberately excluded. To budget character level-up runes instead, use the Rune & Level Calculator; it is not a smithing-cost estimator.

Can I calculate stones for multiple weapons at once?

Yes. The combined planner accepts up to eight explicitly entered weapons, including duplicate names. It sums every required stone by material grade and subtracts your shared inventory only once. You can export the checklist as CSV or optionally save it on your own device.

What if my current level already equals the target level?

The calculator returns zero required upgrade steps and zero new materials. It does not assume you need additional stones just because you entered a weapon or own stock.

    Source, scope and maintenance

This schedule is based on published Smithing Stone and Somber Smithing Stone mechanics. See regular upgrade materials, somber upgrade materials and the upgrade-level reference.

The tool does not calculate rune costs, where to obtain stones, game-specific drop rates, weapon stats, attack ratings or unavailable upgrades. Check official patches before relying on the schedule after major future game updates.
